The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called success.

Where did July go?

Well let me start with my usual excuse for everything… busy, busy, and tired! July is always a really busy month for me. As I mentioned before my granny (or as some would say: my grandmother, grandma etc…) was here for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the month. During her visit we laughed until our cheeks hurt, played “ultimate backyard badminton” until exhaustion and played cards and dominos late into the night hours, almost every night. Thank goodness July is not one of my busiest months at work. Also while she was here I celebrated my 37 birthday on the 13, which this year happened to fall on a Friday. Yes, there were a few jokes made about that! You know, I still can't believe I’m 37, not that 37 is old, but I remember being 27 and thinking 37 was a long way off, turns out it got here before I knew it and I find myself saying, “how’d that happen and where did all those years go?” In all honesty, I’m happy to be 37; I feel blessed to have each day, each year. In my mind I’m still 29, but my body has no problem reminding me I’m not! Which brings me to my birthday resolution; I’m going to start getting into shape…next month!

A little back story for those if you that don’t know:
A few years ago I had some lung problems caused by a severe case of pneumonia and to make a very long story short I ended up having lung surgery, which included a nice 5 days stay at "hotel hell", aka Trident Hospital and 6 weeks at home. After going through all that, I gained a lot of perspective about just how blessed I am and just how easily things can change. One day everything is going along fine, and then one morning you wake up and it hurts to just breathe.

This last week I took a little vacation time and went to Ohio to visit my roommate’s family, well, my extended family too! They were having some really nice weather up there. Beautiful! Got my hair colored while I was there, laid by the pool a couple of days, got my Harry Potter book ( not finished reading it yet, so don’t tell me), spent a lot of time with Brynne, just hanging out and having a good time. That girl is definitely one of my most favorite people!

Now you see, I have been busy, busy…and now tired!!! Goodnight…

Sorry for not posting lately. My granny has been in town visiting for a couple of weeks, so I have been enjoying my time with her. She will be leaving Monday, I think, so I will hopefully have something new to post the first of next week.

DCI

Went to my first DCI competition (Drum Crop International) Friday night. It was AWESOME!!
Made me miss my high school band days a lot!! Kudos to those young kids!!
