Ok, I know I'm a little late...
Here a few shots of out trip to the Pumpkin Patch and our Halloween Pumpkin Carving party. As you can see we take our Pumpkin carving pretty seriously.

Chaos Remembered
Remembering 9-11
In life there is much chaos. We see it at different times in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. We have known it up close and personal and we have felt its devastation as its being played out before us on our televisions. But, it is in the chaos that we are able to find so much. Personally we begin to realize that we had strength beyond measure and courage that motives many. We also find our lives enriched by some losses that are suffered. The loss of pride, when life strips us and leaves us humbled, the loss of prejudice, when the color of healing hands do on look the same as our own. We find motivation and strength through our hope and faith. A hope that inspires us to look beyond the mess and turmoil around us, and forward to the renewing peace of tomorrow. We find that even when we don’t understand and when our greatest question is why, we can lean on our faith, a faith that tells us, God is in control and a constant companion that will meet all our needs through his love for us. When the dust settles and healing begins, we can look back on the chaos, always remembering the devastation, losses, and lives left in shambles. But also, being thankful for the gains and life lessons learned, for the things that moved us in many ways, making us a stronger and better person. Leaving our lives richer and more meaningful, because…we remember.

I'm eating my veggies
Let the land produce vegetation
Genesis 1:11
What’s in the garden? Squash, zucchini, cucumber, peppers, and for my mom, tomatoes!
YES, I have a garden. It’s a small one, but for my first year and not knowing what to expect its been great! I’ve been watching my garden veggies take off and grow and it has been exciting (and maybe a little therapeutic) to go outside and see what they are looking like each day. Of course the best part is reaping the benefits of fresh garden veggies. I have even eaten some tomatoes, not really because I like them, but because I grew them But, I am learning to like them, maybe there is hope for me yet!
“…Like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop-thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown." Mar 4:20
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” Luke 8:15

Where did July go?
A little back story for those if you that don’t know:
A few years ago I had some lung problems caused by a severe case of pneumonia and to make a very long story short I ended up having lung surgery, which included a nice 5 days stay at "hotel hell", aka Trident Hospital and 6 weeks at home. After going through all that, I gained a lot of perspective about just how blessed I am and just how easily things can change. One day everything is going along fine, and then one morning you wake up and it hurts to just breathe.
This last week I took a little vacation time and went to Ohio to visit my roommate’s family, well, my extended family too! They were having some really nice weather up there. Beautiful! Got my hair colored while I was there, laid by the pool a couple of days, got my Harry Potter book ( not finished reading it yet, so don’t tell me), spent a lot of time with Brynne, just hanging out and having a good time. That girl is definitely one of my most favorite people!
Now you see, I have been busy, busy…and now tired!!! Goodnight…

Intro to me
I’m guessing the first two things anyone who happens upon my blog would want to know is: Who is this person? and Is this worth the read? Well, I can help you with the first question, but you’re on your own with the second and hopefully you will be letting me know if it was worth the read.
My name is Shannon and I live in a small, but quickly growing town outside Charleston, SC. I have lived almost my entire life here and I don’t really have any intentions of leaving, unless someone greater than I has a plan for me that I have not yet been let in on. Never say never, right?!
I am a Christian. What does that mean…well, I’m not perfect, (definitely not, not even close), but forgiven…not better than, but a servant to…not all knowing, but wise enough to lean on my faith when there is no understanding. I am not judge and jury; I’ve dealt with enough judges and juries myself to know that the world could use a little less “hanging” and little more “loving”. So, I try to be a little more open-minded and try to look for all possible good.
I love to question and learn new things (maybe that is why I love Jeopardy so much). “Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can-there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did” Sarah Caldwell
I love quotes, when I have a good one to share, I will post it!
I am passionate about my family and friends; they are the glue that keeps me all together.
I’m in love with life and I want to make everyday a ”let us rejoice and be glad in it” kind of day. Although, not all days turn out quite so well, and sometimes you have to look a little hard for things to rejoice about.
I love music; good music and I listen to almost everything. So, if I happen to hear something I really like I will probably mention it to you, so stay tuned…
I’m pretty shy and quiet, most of the time, as least around people I don’t know real well. But, I love to meet knew people and I hope that this medium will allow me to do just that.
Ok, I’m not really sure what this blog will be about, but I hope that it will raise questions. Inspire conversation. Motivate and stimulate thinking or action or whatever the case may be...
You will find that I’m not the world’s greatest writer, but I will do my best to post as often as possible, with as much elegance and humor as possible…ok, seriously, I don’t know about elegance and humor, but you will get something! I look forward to continuing to introduce myself to you and getting to know “you”, my new blog friends!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to hear from you all, please comment!
